SUMMARY:Community Gathering: Advancing Equity and Justice
DESCRIPTION:A gathering for Community Impact leaders to connect\, learn\, and share strategies to advance equity and justice in their organizations.\n\n\nCommunity Gathering: Advancing Equity and Justice\n\nAre you a champion for justice and equity and reimaging work in your organization? Join IONS and other impact organizations (non-profits) to connect\, co-learn and collaborate on challenges\, strategies and tools to advance equity and justice in your organization. \nIn partnership with the Community Impact Sector and Communties\, Culture\, Tourism\, and Heritage (CCTH)\, IONS has developed “Pathway to Actions”\, an accessible navigation to tools and resources to support organizations in growing their knowledge\, shifting mindsets\, and moving to action. The Pathway to Actions survey can help you navigate tools and resources to support your organization in growing knowledge\, shifting mindsets\, and moving to action – based on where you are in your journey. \nAt this gathering\, impact organizations will be invited to connect\, learn and share resources and strategies for advancing equity and justice. \n \nIn advance of the session: If you’re able\, we ask you to spend 15-30 minutes taking the Pathway to Actions survey. The survey will walk you through 12 scenario-based questions\, and then offer you an organizational persona and curated resources that are aimed at growing knowledge\, shifting mindsets and moving to action – based on where you are at in your equity and justice journey.\n\nThe organizational personas were created through community research with impact organizations in Mi’kma’ki. They outline common motivations\, needs\, and barriers faced in this work. The gathering will provide an opportunity for you to explore these topics with others in the sector\, to connect and learn from impact leaders who are moving through their journey\, and to share resources that facilitate actin in communities. \n \nOutcomes:\n\n\nIdentify where your organization is on its equity and justice journey\nConnect and learn with other community impact organizations about how to move forward in your next steps for your equity and inclusion journey\nAccess language and resources to facilitate further dialogue and action in your organization about your equity and justice work\n\n \nAccessibility Information\nThe Eventbrite registration has a section to fill out accessibility needs or requests. Please indicate any accessibility needs you may have in your Eventbrite registration form. If you have general questions or concerns related to accessibility\, please contact our IONS Operations Coordinator\, Jeanine Kazungu – jeanine@ions-dev.alltimelowe.com. \n \nMasking and COVID-19 Considerations\nWe will not be requiring the use of masks at the event\, but encourage wearing a mask if that is preferable or comfortable for you. SUMMARY:Telling your Story: Crafting an Impactful Narrative Sydney
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a session of sharing\, learning\, food\, and collaborating on impactful storytelling.\n\n\nEvery day the Community Impact Sector is improving lives and affecting change. There has been no shortage of challenges faced by our communities and the sector. Impact organizations have stepped up in big ways to provide care\, support\, and resources. Through a global pandemic\, social injustices\, and dangerous hurricanes (just to name a few!)\, our sector has been working behind the scenes – but what if we collectively and boldly told these stories of impact and positive change? How powerful would that be? \nThis fall\, we’re eager to be in communities around the province to hear your stories and share skills for communicating your organization’s impact! The IONS team will be hosting and facilitating our storytelling workshop\, designed to help your organization amplify its voice\, build a narrative that resonates\, and ultimately – together\, to change the narrative of the Community Impact Sector through the power of telling our stories. \n\nTelling Your Story: Crafting an Impactful Narrative\nOften storytelling feels out of reach. We think of the creatives\, the videographers\, writers\, and the artists. But storytelling is a communications tool that we can all leverage within the sector. This in-person workshop is an introduction to storytelling and for people\, organizations\, and communities. Learn about the stories you can tell\, the different ways of telling stories\, and the many ways to connect with an audience to have your stories heard. You’ll have a chance to reflect on your own storytelling\, leverage your strengths\, practice storytelling\, and build confidence to tell stories that will connect with people and promote action. \nThis workshop is for you if… \n\nYou’ve got a story to tell\, but you don’t know where to start \nYou’re craving in-person\, collaborative learning with peers in your community\nYou need a roadmap for crafting a story that furthers your impact \nYou are in the ‘business’ of changing hearts and minds – of funders\, policy makers\, stakeholders\, or community \nYou want to inspire action or engagement \nYou want to learn the building blocks of an effective story \n\nCome connect with us and your community for a session of sharing\, learning\, and collaborating. Light breakfast\, snacks\, and lunch will be provided. There is no cost to your organization. Once registered\, additional information will be shared about the venue\, timing\, catering\, and COVID-19 protocols. \nSpace is limited\, register today!
